Rails at Great Northern Hotel appoints new head chef

Rails at Great Northern Hotel has announced the appointment of Mark Weir as its new head chef. Weir brings over 20 years’ experience in the industry to the hotel and joins from the Haymarket Hotel. U.S. Hotel Industry Growth Slows in Q2

Executive Summary Hotel fundamentals softened in Q2, largely due to a 1.5% year-over-year drop in occupancy. The average daily rate (ADR) increased by 2.6% year-over-year, its slowest annual growth since Q1 2021. Revenue per available room (RevPAR) increased by just 1.1% year-over-year, a material slowdown from Q1’s 15.9% pace. Total inbound foreign visitors were 27% below pre-pandemic 2019 levels, while the number of Americans traveling to Europe and the Caribbean increased by 5% and 8%, respec

Motel One revenues jump to £337m as its surpasses 25,000 rooms

Motel One has reported H1 sales of €394m (£337m), while also now boasting more than 25,000 rooms across its global portfolio. According to the brand’s latest financial report, sales in Q2 increased by 32% in 2022 and were 59% higher than the pre-Covid levels of 2019. Meanwhile, occupancy rates for the first half of 2023 rose to 69% compared with 51% in 2022 – jumping from 61% in Q1 to 77% in Q2.

Hyatt RevPAR up 15% in Q2

Hyatt Hotels has revealed that its owned and leased hotels system-wide RevPAR increased 15% in the second quarter, as its net rooms grew 6.9% in the second quarter. In addition, the group’s comparable owned and leased hotels operating margins were 26.2% higher in Q2 of this year than the prior year. As a result, the group revealed that its adjusted net income reached a total of $88m (£69.2m) in the second quarter, compared with $51m (£40.1m) in the same period last year.
