Christie & Co revises market price of The Gaskell Arms Hotel
The hotel is now on the market at the revised price of offers in excess of £750,000
The Gaskell Arms Hotel and Restaurant, situated in Much Wenlock, has been brought to market at the revised price of offers in excess of £750,000.
Formerly a 17th Century coaching Inn, The Gaskell Arms has become a landmark in the sought after mediaeval town. The renowned venue offers a wealth of character, having retained many period features throughout its 14 ensuite lettings rooms and popular restaurant, lounge and bar.
The hotel and restaurant is an ideal stop-off for tourists and locals exploring the area as well as a popular venue for weddings and events, and has hosted many notable figures over the years, including Mick Jagger and Dr. William Penny-Brookes.
The venue has been in the Sheldon family for 45 years and is now up for sale due to the owner’s planned retirement.
The Sheldons said: “The Gaskell Arms is a wonderful place with a rich history and so much to offer a new owner. The hotel has been our family’s lifetime work but it’s now time for a change of ownership and we look forward to finding the next custodians to take the business forward.”
Sam Roberts, broker at Christie and Co who is handling the sale, added: “We are inviting offers on this fabulous business located at the foot of the Shropshire Hills. It’s rich in history and has provided a valuable service to locals and tourists alike for a number of years.
“The current owners are wishing to take a step back from the hustle and bustle of running this thriving establishment and are now seeking new, keen and enthusiastic owners.”
