Rock House Resort

Grace Bay Resorts

Rock House Resort, Turks and Caicos

The island known for its electric, Maldivian blue colored waters added another luxury Caribbean hotel to its shores with the opening of Rock House this year. Located in the northern part of Providenciales, the cliffside hotel is perched between limestone rocks and overlooks a turquoise ocean in a setting that’s reminiscent of the Amalfi coast. Part of Grace Bay Resorts’ portfolio, the 46 oceanfront villa-style accommodations include one and two bedroom standalone accommodations with outdoor terraces and showers, 13-foot vaulted ceilings, and oceanfront pool studios that overlook the 100 foot infinity pool. Then there’s the seclusion factor: a private white sand beach, private jetty stretches 130-feet into cerulean waters and Cave bar carved into natural limestone walls all provide a retreat from the more crowded parts of the Providenciales. When you’re ready to voyage beyond Rock House’s tranquil vibes, head to beachside Bugaloos for a taste of the island’s famous take on conch—including ceviches and croquette style iterations. For a night of fine dining, Grace’s Cottage serves seafood dishes and a memorable, tender duck confit atop a white bean cassoulet in a shaded, quaint gazebo setting.

Jost Van Dyke recently welcomed The Hideout in White Bay, making it the first luxury boutique hotel on the island. The seven-villa resort features private plunge pools in every accommodation and is located on the popular White Bay Beach—where beach bars and prime snorkeling opportunities abound. Next door, Hendo’s Hideout restaurant offers dishes with locally sourced ingredients like fresh ceviche and mahi mahi tacos. Jost Van Dyke is the smallest of the four main islands of the British Virgin Islands, with a number of activities to enjoy like hiking to Bubbly Pool– a small geological cove and natural jacuzzi formed by crashing waves nearby.

Coulibri Ridge

Coulibri Ridge

Coulibri Ridge, Dominica

An opening that’s been 20 years in the making, Coulibri Ridge makes its debut this month as Dominica’s newest, ultra-sustainable property. Owners Daniel Langlois and Dominique Marchand spent time researching sustainable designs and infrastructure building, as well as solidifying community relationships for this venture. Located on a mountain ridge in southern Dominica near the village of Soufrière, Coulibri Ridge is fully off-grid and uses solar energy as its main power source. Rainwater collected from the resort’s roof design and purified by ionization is funneled to 14 suites and two chlorine-free pools. Four categories of residential-style suites come with full kitchens, including 1000-square foot penthouses with two terraces—one overlooking the sea, Martinque and the Morne Fou mountain peak, and a second overlooking Sulphur Spring Valley. Other amenities include a yoga pavilion, gym, spa facilities for private treatments, and two dining rooms—Mesa and Vista. Just a short walk from the property, hikers can enjoy the Scott’s Head trail that leads to the Atlantic Ocean on one side and Caribbean Sea on the other. Dominica is home to a number of hot springs that are just minutes away from Coulibri Ridge, like Soufriere Sulphur Springs.
