The hotel has also been popular as a wedding venue, and offers three reception rooms and a self-contained banqueting suite.

Matthew Smith, hotels partner at Knight Frank, who oversaw the sale, said: “Our marketing campaign generated considerable interest for Marsh Farm Hotel, and we are pleased to have now sold Meridian Hotels their fourth hotel in as many years following their three previous purchases through Knight Frank, which were the Holiday Inn Sittingbourne, Stanton House Hotel Wiltshire and The Bentley Hotel in Lincoln.

“Meridian Hotels will embark on a refurbishment of the hotel and reposition the business, and we are excited to see how the hotel will be transformed under their ownership.”

Paul Evans of Meridian Hotels added: “We welcome the team at Marsh Farm Hotel into our family of hotels and we are looking forward to working with them. We will be reaching out to the local community and excited to welcome both new and existing guests to the hotel.”
