US: Hotel development and management company Lark Hotels has opened the Blind Tiger in Burlington, Vermont, ahead of another Blind Tiger launch in Asheville, North Carolina.
Blind Tiger is a boutique hotel collection which debuted in Portland, Maine in 2020. The brand has now expanded to Burlington with the opening of a 14-room property designed by Elder & Ash.
First built as a private home in 1881, original features such as the slate roof and exterior marble staircase have been retained during the renovation. Rooms are individually designed and decorated, with some rooms featuring gas fireplaces. Several rooms come with seating areas and others have separate living areas.
Communal spaces include a solarium, dining room, a complimentary fully-stocked pantry, and a lounge and barroom.
Rob Blood, founder of Lark Hotels and principal at Elder & Ash, said: “We have always loved Vermont and are proud to have a growing footprint in Stowe, but Burlington has such a singular, vibrant arts scene. Blind Tiger is about amplifying and emulating its surroundings and citizens in an artful and relevant way, one that is sustainable and honest to the locale. This property feels like a true love letter to the Burlington community.”
Scheduled to open later in June is the third Blind Tiger in the collection, located in Asheville. It also features 14 bedrooms with the design led by Elder & Ash.
Blood added: “Asheville has been on our radar for a long time, but this particular property really swept us off our feet. From its incredible botanical gardens to its seemingly hidden location just steps from downtown, the property truly embodies the Blind Tiger spirit. We hope locals and travellers are as charmed by Blind Tiger Asheville as we are.”
