Italy: Luxury hotel InterContinental Rome Ambasciatori Palace has opened under IHG Hotels & Resorts’ luxury and lifestyle portfolio.

InterContinental Rome Ambasciatori Palace features 160 rooms and luxury suites, as well as three F&B venues: the Italian-American restaurant Scarpetta NYC, Charlie’s Rooftop, and Anita’s Bar and Lounge. The hotel is a short walk from the Trevi Fountain, the Spanish Steps, and the Pantheon.

It has been designed by the Italian architect Carlo Busiri Vici and occupies a landmark building that was constructed in 1900 to host ambassadors staying in Rome, before becoming the American Embassy Library in 1946.

General manager Luca de Stefano said: “It is with great pleasure that we open the doors to InterContinental Rome Ambasciatori Palace. Our passion for luxury hospitality and attention to detail is second to none and we are looking forward to welcoming guests to our stunning hotel and to experience the wonder of Rome. Rich in history and in unparalleled location, guests can indulge in the timeless elegance of Italian design, savour the flavours of refined Italian cuisine, and create unforgettable memories.”

Tom Rowntree, VP of global luxury and lifestyle brands at IHG, said: “This hotel is a true gem in our portfolio of luxury properties, and we look forward to providing our guests with an unforgettable experience to discover the soul of Rome. As expectations of the modern luxury traveller continue to evolve, we recognised an opportunity to both preserve the distinct properties of this palace building while reimagining the interiors to elevate it to new heights.”

InterContinental Rome Ambasciatori is the latest addition to the brand and is one of 450 hotels in IHG’s luxury and lifestyle portfolio. More than 30 InterContinental hotels are expected to open in the next two years.
