US: Five-star property The Mark Hotel, located in Manhattan, New York, has appointed Etienne Haro as general manager.

Haro joins The Mark Hotel from La Mamounia in Marrakech, where he served as director. Previous experience has included managerial roles with the Burj Al Arab in Dubai and The Caledonian in Scotland. 

Speaking about his appointment, Haro said: “I am delighted to join this bastion of elegance in the heart of Manhattan and honoured to be a part of the incredible team that has made it one of the most sought-after addresses in the world. Together, we will pursue this extraordinary endeavour of offering the finest levels of luxury and guest experience, with this touch of boldness that makes The Mark one of a kind.”

Writing on LinkedIn, Haro added: “I’m grateful for the journey this far and to the exceptional professionals I met and learnt from along the way, keeping me inspired and passionate, becoming forever friends or precious mentors.”

The Mark Hotel offers 106 rooms and 47 suites, with hotel interiors by Jacques Grange. Amenities include a restaurant headed up by chef Jean-Georges Vongerichten, a bar, a hair salon by Frédéric Fekkai, and access to The Mark Sailboat, pedicabs, bikes and more.

Perfumer Frédéric Malle created the Jurassic Flower scent exclusively for The Mark, which can be bought as a candle on the hotel’s online boutique Le Shop. Other branded merchandise is also available.
