Whitbread recently inaugurated its 13-storey hub by Premier Inn Marylebone hotel in Central London, featuring 294 compact rooms. The Lord Mayor of Westminster and Westminster City Council’s Deputy Cabinet Member officially opened the hotel. Whitbread collaborated with Westminster Council for recruitment, holding multiple sessions to attract local residents. The Marylebone hotel is part of Whitbread’s strategy to expand Premier Inn’s presence in central London, offering contemporary design, technology focus, and a relaxed Lounge-style food and beverage service. Including this location, Whitbread operates eight Premier Inn and ‘hub’ hotels in the City of Westminster, employing over 300 people.

In Edinburgh, Heart of Midlothian football club unveiled plans for the UK’s first club-owned and operated hotel inside a football stadium. The 25-bedroom Tynecastle Park Hotel, integrated into the main stand, will offer various room types, a club lounge, and event spaces. The hotel, part of the club’s growth initiative, aims to provide a unique matchday experience and accommodation managed entirely by the club. The Skyline Restaurant will offer Scottish seasonal menus, and the facility will be easily accessible for visitors looking for contemporary accommodation during an Edinburgh city break.

Meanwhile, the luxury boutique ‘farm’otel, Outbuildings Dorset, plans to open two more lodges in February 2024. The family-run establishment, converted from traditional barns, offers lodging for two to six people in each of its lodges. The new lodges in ‘The Byre’ will feature outdoor copper baths, showers with a view, and large beds with glass walls. Outbuildings Dorset provides a tranquil escape, allowing guests to immerse themselves in quiet indulgence, with amenities such as outdoor hot tubs, a Hay Barn Cinema, and culinary offerings by local chef Mark Kick.

Miiro, a new lifestyle hotel brand by InterGlobe Enterprises, is set to open its first hotel, Templeton Garden, in London in 2025. The 156-room hotel in Earls Court will include a café-meets-deli, restaurant, bar, and a standout garden. Miiro plans to open hotels in Vienna (2025), Barcelona, and Paris (summer 2024). The brand emphasises a thoughtful and personal approach to hospitality, aiming to bring guests closer to local culture with Brilliantly Considered Stays. Neena Gupta, CEO of Miiro and executive director of group strategy and international hospitality at InterGlobe Enterprises, looks forward to expanding the brand in Europe’s most interesting city centre neighbourhoods.
