The Cosmopolitan Hotel in Leeds is set for a significant transformation with a multi-million-pound refurbishment project. Managed by Belfont Hotels, the renovation will modernise the building, revamp existing bedrooms, and add new guest rooms, expanding the total to 108. The ground floor function rooms, restaurant, and bar will also be modernised, along with new windows and roof and elevation renovations. Clegg Construction has been appointed as the contractor for the project, scheduled for completion in Spring 2025. This refurbishment aims to turn the iconic Cosmopolitan Hotel into a top-tier hospitality venue for both leisure and corporate guests.

Anne Lomas has been promoted to the role of hotel manager at The London Edition. She previously served as the director of food and beverage and later as the operational lead. Her expertise in F&B and hotel management, as well as her personal interest, led to this promotion. This announcement coincides with The London Edition’s 10-year anniversary. Lomas expressed pride in the team’s achievements and eagerly anticipates her new role.

Blackfinch Property has provided a £5.6m bridging loan for a new hotel development on Princes Street, Edinburgh. The loan supports the purchase of three adjacent properties for the hotel, which boasts views of Edinburgh Castle. The borrower, who has received planning permission to create a 347-bed hotel, has already signed a lease agreement with an international hotel operator. The development aligns with ESG criteria, focusing on net zero carbon construction and sustainable materials. Nicola Mayes, Investment Manager at Blackfinch Property, commends the project for bringing vacant buildings into use while adhering to ESG principles.

The House of Gods Glasgow has offered a sneak peek at its luxurious rooms before its January opening. Located in Merchant City, the hotel has undergone a three-year renovation and will feature more rooms than its Edinburgh counterpart, including Presidential Suites. The interiors are a highlight, with hand-painted gold-embellished wallpaper, marble fountains, custom cashmere blankets, and marble-clad bathrooms. The rooftop ‘Garden of Eden’-inspired restaurant and bar, along with a signature cocktail lounge, provide guests with a unique and lavish experience. CEO Mike Baxter emphasises the commitment to making every guest feel like a rockstar.
