The Ainscow Hotel sold to new owners for £7.5m

The Artisan Property Group then purchased the property in 2003 and later converted the building into a hotel

The Ainscow Hotel in Manchester has been purchased by an established UK property and leisure investment company off a guide price of £7.5m.

The site features 87 ensuite guest bedrooms that are “generous in size” with an array of room configurations, from double rooms that measure approximately 29 square metres to larger executive doubles and suites that are arranged over two floors and measure up to 53 square metres.

The hotel is situated within one mile of Central Manchester and within a five-minute walk from Spinningfields and Manchester’s financial district to the northwest of the city centre. The Manchester Arena, Old Trafford Football stadium and The Etihad football stadium are also nearby.

The property was originally home of The Watson and Woodhead Brewery in 1878, before it became a Mackie and Sons Fruit Preserves jam factory in 1972.

The Artisan Property Group then purchased the property in 2003 and later converted the building into a hotel, which opened in 2014 following a major capital expenditure programme.

The third floor was reconfigured in 2021, converting several meeting rooms and food and beverage areas into well-proportioned guest accommodation, increasing the room count from 73 to 87. The ground and lower ground floors of the property benefit from public areas whilst externally there is a barrier-controlled car park for 36 vehicles.

Matthew Smith, partner in the Hotel Agency team at Knight Frank, said: “Following a comprehensive marketing campaign that generated multiple offers, we’re delighted to close on The Ainscow Hotel, and we wish the new owners all the very best with their future plans.

“This sale highlights that there is activity in the market and the Knight Frank Hotels teams continue to achieve clients’ objectives through careful management of transactions.”
