Knight Frank, who handled the sale, said that the Charlton House Hotel has been converted from a 17th Century country house and has a reputation for being one of the “leading” country house hotels in the region.

The hotel business is also known for bringing in a substantial portion of repeat business because of its “award-winning” restaurant, bar, 28 modern guest rooms, wedding and event space, gym, and spa.

The Bannatyne Group, owned by former Dragon’s Den star Duncan Bannatyne, originally purchased the property in 2010.

Matthew Smith, partner, Hotel agency at Knight Frank, said: “We are delighted to have concluded the sale of Charlton House Hotel & Spa to KOP Limited, which will allow the Singaporean group to broaden its operations in the hotel sector, and marks the group’s re-entry into the UK market. This sale demonstrates the confidence in the UK hotel market, which we expect to continue throughout 2023”
