The new Ebrington Hotel in Derry is set to open at the end of June, following a £16.5m investment by Ebrington Leisure Holdings.

Resting on the banks of the River Foyle, this landmark 93 bedroom hotel sits overlooking the historic walled city in one of the most iconic locations in Derry, positioned directly at the end of the peace bridge with views of the entire city.

Located on the famous Ebrington Barracks site dating back to 1842, the hotel is a blend of listed and modern buildings boasting a 142-seater restaurant, adjoining bar and lounge, Spa with Hydrotherapy Pool, Gym and Conference Facilities for 400 delegates.

Last month the hotel announced that one of Ireland’s finest chefs, Noel Mc Meel, has joined the Ebrington in advance of its opening in June. Mc Meel has cooked for royalty, politicians, and celebrities, including Barack Obama, and is currently devising menus across all areas of the business including the hotel’s Oak Room Restaurant.

Cecil Doherty, managing director of the Ebrington Hotel said: “Our purpose is to create a desirable, sought after destination that lifts the whole of the Northwest and which introduces our city, our cuisine and our hospitality to new people across the globe.

“We are beyond excited for the future of The Ebrington Hotel in Derry specifically and the Ebrington site overall with our creation of 120 jobs locally along with the unique opportunity to repurpose and revitalise iconic historically significant buildings. Ebrington’s future is very bright.”
