Radisson Hotel Group has announced its first Radisson Hotel and Serviced Apartments in Glasgow, set to open in 2027. Located in the city centre, the development will feature standard and superior bedrooms, luxury studio and one-bedroom apartments, a rooftop bar with panoramic city views, a ground-floor restaurant, a gym, and meeting spaces. The property’s proximity to the River Clyde and city attractions aims to offer guests a convenient and luxurious stay experience. Adela Cristea, Radisson Hotel Group’s VP of business development, expresses excitement about the venture, highlighting Glasgow’s appeal and the group’s commitment to providing diverse accommodation options.

Switch Hospitality Management has appointed Kirstie Orton as the hotel manager of its flagship property, Park Regis Birmingham. Orton, with over 14 years of hospitality experience, previously served as head housekeeper at the hotel. Her promotion reflects her strong leadership and dedication to customer service. Park Regis Birmingham, situated in the city centre, offers 253 guest rooms, function spaces, a bar, an outdoor terrace, and an Indian restaurant. Orton’s appointment underscores Switch Hospitality Management’s commitment to promoting talent and delivering exceptional guest experiences.

The Cumberland Building Society has expanded its hotel portfolio with a seven-figure deal with Rees Mellish Hotel Management. The deal involves refinancing and consolidating loans for Stanhill Court Hotel and View Hotel, demonstrating the Cumberland’s support for experienced hoteliers. Dave Mellish, co-owner of Rees Mellish Hotel Management, praises the Cumberland’s flexibility and alignment with their business values. Derek Smith, business development manager at the Cumberland, emphasises the society’s commitment to supporting the hospitality industry and fostering positive community impact through its “Kinder Banking” approach.

Whitbread has secured a second location for Premier Inn in Cork by acquiring the Leisureplex entertainment complex in the city’s Victorian Quarter. This follows the recent opening of the first Cork Premier Inn, signalling Whitbread’s confidence in Cork as a visitor destination. The acquired property will be redeveloped into a 168-bedroom Premier Inn hotel, complementing the existing 187-bedroom riverfront hotel. Whitbread’s development manager for Ireland, Matt Gent, highlights Cork’s thriving economy and underserved hotel accommodation market. With over 1,000 Premier Inn bedrooms across Ireland and plans for further expansion, Whitbread aims to meet growing demand for affordable and family-friendly accommodation options in the region.
