BHA donates equipment to Bristol College catering department

The association is keen to encourage the training of the next generation of hotel, restaurant and café chefs

The Bristol Hoteliers Association (BHA) has donated a Thermomix and fine dining plates, worth a total of around £2,500, to the catering department at City of Bristol College.

The BHA, which aims to strengthen its ties with the college, has made the donation to enhance the experience of the college students at the College Green Centre kitchen.

The association is also keen to encourage the training of the next generation of hotel, restaurant and café chefs.

Ryan Fernandes, the catering lecturer at the college, said that the Thermomix had been on their wish list for “the longest time”, and that together with the plates, it will “elevate the dining experience in the City Restaurant”.

The Thermomix is a cooker, blender, food processor, and a mixer for baking, all in one. It can chop, blend, steam, cook, stir, whisk, mill, weigh, mince and sauté.

Raphael Herzog, chair of the BHA, said: “We wanted to support the college because it is promoting our exciting industry to the next generation and is helping to create the future leaders for the hospitality sector.”

Fernandes added: “It really will do justice for my dinners now. We are extremely grateful to the Bristol Hoteliers Association for their generous donation and we are excited to see what indulgent dishes and culinary creations our students can come up with using the top of the range Thermomix.”
