Air Canada to Launch Non-Stop Singapore Route in 2024

Air Canada will launch direct flights between Vancouver International Airport (YVR) and Singapore Changi International Airport (SIN) from April 2024. The new route will operate four times weekly, on board Air Canada’s flagship Dreamliner fleet. The flight schedule has been built to conveniently connect to and from destinations across North America via Air Canada’s hub at YVR and in Singapore to and from destinations across Southeast Asia, South India and Western Australia with Star Alliance and codeshare partner, Singapore Airlines.

 Aloft Hotel to Open in Singapore in Q3 2023

Singapore-based Hiap Hoe Limited has signed an agreement with US-based Marriot International through HH Properties Pte. Ltd. To bring the design-forward Aloft Hotels brand to Singapore. The 785-room hotel expects to open in Q3 2023, and it will be the largest Aloft hotel in the world. Aloft Singapore Novena will be a mix-used development comprising of 2 towers. It is located in Zhongshan Park, in the cultural district of Balestier. This area is renowned for its rich heritage and is situated along the Balestier Heritage Trail, surrounded by an array of famous local eateries and linked to the integrated dynamic healthcare precinct, Healthcity Novena. Within the hotel, guests can enjoy meals from a modern Chinese and local seafood restaurant or a Halal-certified buffet restaurant. The property also includes a range of facilities including an outdoor pool, a gym and meeting and event spaces.

 World’s First Frozen-Themed Land Set To Open in 2H2023

Hong Kong Disneyland Resort (HKDL) has announced the launch of their new attractions and experiences by 2H2023. HKDL will be the home to the world’s first Frozen-themed land – The World of Frozen. Modelled after the hit movie – Frozen – the new attraction will feature the movie characters’ hometown, along with three Frozen-themed rides. The resort’s Ocean Park will also feature two multimedia shows – Soul of the Ocean and Visions of Hong Kong – to cater to the expected increase of visitors. In addition, Ocean Park is set to have pet-friendly programs and the debut of Explorer K, a kid-friendly technology experience hub, offering fresh experiences to its visitors.

 Cambodia’s First Smart Airport in Siem Reap

Cambodia Angkor Air has partnered with China-based Trip.com Group on the development of Cambodia’s first smart airport in Siem Reap. The new Angkor International Airport is expected to open in October 2023, with a projected annual passenger count of seven million people, that will increase to ten million people per year by 2030. By utilizing Trip.com Group’s digital and intelligent services, the new airport is poised to become a key smart airport in the region. Under this partnership, the two entities will also work towards developing tourism talent training programs and promoting Cambodia as a global destination.

 Chinese Aviation Authority Approves Kunming’s USD3 Billion International Airport Expansion Plans

The Chinese Aviation Authority has given approval to expand the 10-year-old Kunming Changshui International Airport (“KCIA”). The CNY20.7 billion (USD3 billion) project marks a step towards transforming the capital city of the Yunnan province into a major aviation hub. With two new runways, the annual passenger of KCIA would increase to 95 million people —roughly two times more than what was recorded in 2019. As one of China’s top ten airports, the infrastructure development would further increase the maximum cargo throughput and, number of take-offs and landings in the city.
