Daiwa House REIT has Acquired MIMARU Tokyo Akasaka for JPY3.1 Billion

Japan-based Daiwa House REIT Investment Corporation (“Daiwa House REIT”) has acquired MIMARU Tokyo Akasaka from Japan-based Fuyo General Lease Co., Ltd. for JPY3.1 billion. The 11-storey hotel is located approximately four-minute walk from Akasaka Station on the Tokyo Metro Chiyoda Line in central Tokyo. The 36-key property has a land area of 442 square metres and gross floor area of 1,909 square metres. The property features in-room kitchenette, and coin laundry. The property is currently leased out with an annual rent of JPY139 million.

COMO Group is Debuting its First Hotel in Singapore

Singapore-based COMO Pte. Ltd. (“COMO Group”) is debuting its first hotel in Singapore, more than 25-year after the opening of its first 144-key COMO Metropolitan London. Situated at 30 Bideford Road, COMO Group will transform the site of the former Thong Sia Building into COMO Orchard, a 19-storey mixed-use development that house the COMO Metropolitan Singapore hotel (“CMS”), multi-label fashion store, a new wellness space, and Michelin-starred restaurants. The entire project is scheduled to open in various phases, starting with CMS in the second half of 2023.

Shesh Gales to Develop a Mixed-use Tower on Spencer Street

Australia-based MIT Holdings Pty Ltd, owned by Mr. Gale and Mrs. Ghale-Gurong, has filed plans to develop a mixed-use tower at 2-8 Spencer Street. Located on the corner of Flinders and Spence Streets, the site has easy access to the Crown Casino Complex and the Melbourne Exhibition and Convention Centre, which is 5-minute walk across the Yarra River. The architectural plan is designed by the Hassell Studios, the mixed-use tower will have a maximum height of 21 storeys with the first four storeys comprising the heritage-listed hotel building. According to the plans, the mixed-use development will feature at least 138 guest rooms, restaurants, and retail spaces.

Singapore’s Sentosa Development Launched its Ecotourism Cabins on Lazarus Island

Singapore-based Sentosa Development Corporation has worked with Singapore-based Big Tiny Group to launch the short-term accommodation Tiny Away Escape @ Lazarus Island (“TAE”). Located on Lazarus Island, southeastern side of Sentosa Island, TAE has a total of five units with each between 150 to 170 square feet in size. Each unit will come with a queen-sized bed, a fully-equipped kitchen, air-conditioning, and a hot-water shower. Some units will also be pet-friendly and have an additional sofa bed for two children. TAE will be part of the Lazarus Island’s transformation into an eco-tourist destination.

The First Maison Delano is Set to Debut in Asia

France-based hospitality group Accor S.A (“Accor”) is set to debut the first Maison Delano brand in Asia. Situated in the heart of South Korea’s vibrant capital, the 81-key Maison Delano Seoul (“MDS”) will be in the upscale and fashionable district of Gangnam, with panoramic views of Seonjeongneung Royal Tombs, a UNESCO World Heritage site. Slated to open in 2026, MDS will also consist of 52 branded residences, a members’ club, a sunken garden courtyard, a spa, a fitness centre, and an indoor and outdoor infinity rooftop pool overlooking Gangnam Park. The design of Maison Delano Seoul will place emphasis on simplicity by utilising natural and raw materials with a focus on simple compositions and flow of movement. Furthermore, the façade of the building will be cocooned between trees and greenery to create a connection with nature.
