Greenbank Hotel unveils 30-room expansion plan

The Greenbank Hotel in Falmouth has submitted a pre-planning application to Cornwall Council for an expansion plan for 30 new rooms and a purpose-built restaurant.
Plans range from relocating an existing conference and events suite to a new purpose-built restaurant and events area to the waterfront side.
The hotel also wants new bedrooms above the new restaurant space and in other underutilised areas and a conversion of the current under-croft parking area to new hotel bedrooms.
The initial enquiry to the council has received support, with the plans seeing minimal change to the hotel footprint and no overall increase in height whilst providing far better accessibility to all facilities.
There would also be the provision of a new parking area next to the public highway, created along the North Parade to the north of the hotel.
Ben Young, managing director, said: “We’re established Cornish hoteliers and are committed to Falmouth and to the shared prosperity of the town. These plans look to tackle the current logistical challenges of operating out of an evolved C17 building and allow us to adopt new technologies and insulation that will reduce our carbon usage.
“As well as adding more rooms, the project will provide at least 30 additional full-time jobs for local residents. We want The Greenbank Hotel to remain as a hotel with the community at its heart and thank both Cornwall Council and our neighbours for the positive response to this pre-planning application.”
