  • Indoor and outdoor autonomous mobile robot (AMR): 'GAEMI'... Winners of the Grand Prize in the public design category respectively.
  • Recognized for efforts to enhance product appeal and customer satisfaction through design changes.

ROBOTIS CEO (Representative: Kim Byung Soo, KOSDAQ 108490), announced on the 11th, that their indoor and outdoor delivery service robot 'GAEMI' won the Grand Prize in the public design category at the German 'iF Design Award 2024', achieving a double win.

The 'iF Design Award', hosted by the International Forum in Germany, is considered one of the world's top three design awards along with the German Red Dot Design Award and the American IDEA. This year, over 10,000 entries were submitted from 72 countries worldwide.

'GAEMI' was honored for its efforts to improve customer satisfaction through active functional enhancements and updates based on years of accumulated data, as well as its excellence in consumer-friendly design. ROBOTIS’ autonomous delivery service robots are broadly classified into indoor and outdoor types, both collectively referred to as 'GAEMI.' They are differentiated as 'Indoor GAEMI' and 'Outdoor GAEMI' based on functionality and appearance.

The outdoor autonomous mobile robot, fittingly named 'GAEMI,' features a friendly design with blinking eyes, antennae-like sensors, and a body separated into torso and legs resembling an ant. It is analyzed that such a design moved the judges' hearts in this award. When translated into the Korean language, GAEMI means "ant," to symbolize the diligence of a worker ant, and its contribution to accomplishing a goal.

As for the indoor autonomous mobile robot, its previous design had a square finish, forming an angular exterior shape. However, in the second half of last year, the design was changed dramatically to a rounded contour finish, minimizing contact risks. Additionally, the color was changed from the previous monotone to a white-based blue edge, making identification easier. It received high scores for design changes aimed at consumer safety and convenience.

Meanwhile, ROBOTIS, the exclusive developer of the smart actuator DYNAMIXEL,” and as a leading autonomous delivery service robot company in South Korea, is at the forefront of commercializing delivery services using autonomous mobile robots across various spaces while securing data. The indoor 'GAEMI' is the first of its kind in South Korea equipped with a robot arm. Therefore, it can perform tasks such as operating elevator buttons, tagging security cards, and knocking without separate communication linkage, enabling free inter-floor movement, gaining significant traction in offices, hotels, hospitals, etc.

The outdoor autonomous mobile robot obtained the first certification for outdoor mobile robot safety in South Korea, solidifying its position within the domestic service robot industry. Currently, it provides outdoor delivery services in various fields such as apartment complexes, resorts, and camping sites, tirelessly working day and night for consumer convenience.

Through a recent business agreement with the coffee franchise 'Fall in Love with Coffee,' it is planned to witness the outdoor autonomous mobile robot 'GAEMI' delivering coffee directly at service locations. Starting from the first half of this year, the plan is to gradually introduce up to about 100 units.

The autonomous delivery service robot 'GAEMI' is the result of ROBOTIS’ concentration of our unique technology and expertise in this field, both in hardware and software. In the future, ROBOTIS will strive to enter a stable track in the commercialization and business expansion of autonomous driving robots by continuously pursuing research and development. Kim Byung Soo, CEO of ROBOTIS

ROBOTIS will be exhibiting at HITEC 2024 in Charlotte, N.C, showcasing the GAEMI Delivery Service Robots so come by our booth. Aaron Park, Chief Business Development Officer (CBDO) welcomes the opportunity for discussions surrounding potential collaborative endeavors and partnerships during the forthcoming event.
