Accor and the German multi-brand hotel operator The Chocolate on the Pillow Group are expanding the Mercure portfolio in Switzerland. For the two partners, this is already the seventh joint project, with two more in the planning stages. With the opening and takeover of operations of the Mercure Zurich City scheduled for November 1, 2023, The Chocolate on the Pillow Group is also expanding into Switzerland for the first time. Located centrally in the "Vulcano," built in 2018 and an architectural highlight and urban landmark in the emerging Altstetten district, the hotel will undergo extensive modernization measures as part of the rebranding.

With the successful rebranding as Mercure Zurich City, the hotel operations will be transferred to the Chocolate on the Pillow Group and Accor as the brand provider on November 1, 2023. Both groups are renowned and internationally successful hospitality companies, which was the decisive criterion in the selection process.

Just in time for its 50th anniversary, the Mercure Hotels & Resorts brand can add another hotel in a top destination to its existing portfolio: The Mercure Zurich City features a restaurant with a bar and outdoor terrace, as well as a wellness area with a spa and fitness room. Over the next 18 months, all 319 guest rooms and public areas will be modernized according to the Mercure brand guidelines. The redesign of a meeting and event space with various conference rooms and the optimization of the F&B area are also planned. Located at Vulkanstrasse 108b in Zurich, the hotel is conveniently located and is in the immediate vicinity of the Swiss Life Arena and numerous well-known companies. With a direct connection from Altstetten station, you can reach the city center in 10 minutes and explore the old town or the promenade on Lake Zurich.
