Crerar Hotels reported a 30% increase in gross profits, reaching £16.4m, for the year ending March 2023, surpassing pre-pandemic levels. Despite a pre-tax loss of £2.2m due to restructuring after acquisition, the hotel group achieved a 31% rise in turnover to £19m. Noteworthy investments included a £2.4m upgrade of properties, with a focus on spa redevelopment at Loch Fyne and Golf View Hotel. Staff numbers rose by 16%, reaching 312, attributed to increased salaries and benefits following a £2m investment. Acquired in March 2023 by Blantyre Capital Limited and Fairtree Hotel Investment, the company is optimistic about future growth, emphasising commitment to guests, properties, and the team.

Olivia Immesi has been promoted to CEO of lifestyle aparthotel brand Native Places. Joining as managing director in 2021, Immesi streamlined operations, fostering a high-performing team and workplace culture. Her key objectives include accelerating UK expansion, with openings like Native King’s Wardrobe, St Paul’s, and upcoming locations in Fulham, London, and Birmingham. Immesi, with over 20 years in the industry, previously worked on the launch of the Hoxton and Ace Hotel London, later becoming the general manager of The Curtain Hotel. She aims to solidify Native Places as the leading lifestyle aparthotel provider, emphasising sustainable operations, stylish design, extra space, and guest flexibility.

Pontins, owned by Britannia Hotels, announced the closure of Pontins Southport Holiday Park, marking its third closure in two months after Prestatyn and Camber Sands. Acquired by Britannia Hotels in 2011, Pontins now operates only two sites in Lowestoft and Weston-Super-Mare. The closure decision, made after assessing the park’s future viability, prompted apologies for any inconvenience caused. Customers affected by these closures will be contacted for refunds.
