Tunki has opened in the former Crusoe’s Restaurant space at West Lakes’ Lakes Resort Hotel in Adelaide.

Tunki is the latest venue from Fahey Hotels who are also behind South Australia’s The Bridgeway Hotel and The Maid Hotel.

Executive Chef Krish Dutt is leading the kitchen team to serve a showcase of Nikkei cuisine which teams Japanese and Peruvian ingredients and techniques.

“Tunki to me is a mysterious marriage of Japanese Peruvian flavours. I just want to create a dining experience that makes people’s taste buds dance with excitement,” says Dutt.

“For me, it’s all about bringing together the flawless combination of aromas and the creative spectacle of cooking over an open fire, and of course it’s all about enjoying good food and great company, creating joyful memories.”

Guests can choose from two feed me menus alongside an a la carte offering which features a snack, anticuchos skewer, ceviche, tiradito, sashimi, seafood, meat, vegetable, salad, and dessert section.

Some of the highlights across the menu include a South Australian lobster taco with spicy miso, pickles, and flying fish roe; Nikkei-style guacamole with blue corn tortillas and aji amarillo; plus Spencer Gulf prawn kamameshi with dashi, mushrooms, and wasabi tobiko.

Tunki’s sashimi section comes in either a thin-cut (atsuzukuri) or thick-cut style with the option for a chef’s selection of three or five pieces.

Some of the sashimi options include Abrolhos Island scallop, Coffin Bay oysters, kingfish, trevally, bluefin tuna, and NZ scampi.

Tunki is open Wednesday to Sunday and is located at 141 Brebner Drive, West Lakes, South Australia.
