Paris-based independent restaurant ranking La Liste has revealed its Top 1000 World’s Best Restaurants 2024 list with 22 Australian venues making the cut.

Sydney’s Oncore by Clare Smyth and Melbourne’s Vue de Monde both came in top for Australia with a score of 97.50 per cent and a number 4 ranking.

Sydney’s Quay followed with a number 5 ranking and score of 97.5 per cent; Melbourne’s Attica was next with a number 6 ranking and 97 per cent score; then it was Melbourne’s Brae at ranking 7 with 96.5 per cent; and Cutler & Co. at a number 10 ranking and a score of 95 per cent.

Other venues to make the list also included Tetsuya’s; Minamishima; Bentley Restaurant + Bar; Lûmé (now closed); Beechworth’s Provenance; Daylesford’s Lake House; Bennelong; Penfolds Magill Estate; Ormeggio at The Spit; Sydney’s Rockpool Bar & Grill; Grossi Florentino Upstairs; Saint Peter; and Flower Drum.

There were also three debutant Australia entries: Adelaide’s Botanic Restaurant; Fortitude Valley’s Dan Arnold; and Stanmore’s Sixpenny.

Seven venues tied at a number one ranking with a score of 99.5 per cent.

The seven venues included: New York’s Le Bernardin; Simon Rogan’s L’Enclume; Paris’ Guy Savoy; Saint Tropez’s La Vague d’or; Denmark’s Schwarzwaldstube; Hong Kong’s 龙景轩 – Lung King Heen; and Japan’s 鮨さいとう – Sushi Saito.

La Liste’s rankings are compiled from over 1000 international publications, guidebooks, and diner reviews which are processed into an average score.
