Mollie’s, a renowned hotel and diner concept, has appointed Stephanie Freeman as the general manager of its Oxfordshire site. Freeman, with over 10 years of hospitality experience, previously worked at Elite Hotels, IHG, and Hilton before joining Mollie’s Bristol team in 2021. Recognised as the Inspirational Leader of the Year at the 2023 HR in Hospitality awards, Freeman is excited to contribute to Mollie’s during a pivotal period for the brand. Darren Sweetland, managing director of Mollie’s, expressed enthusiasm about Freeman’s proven track record and anticipates her continued success at Mollie’s Oxfordshire.

Wyboston Lakes Resort has pledged its commitment to the Net Zero Carbon Events Pledge, joining over 600 global organisations in the conference and events industry. The resort commits to achieving net-zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050 and supporting industry-wide efforts. Specific measures include publishing a net-zero pathway by the end of 2023, collaborating with partners for change, and tracking emissions according to best practices. Louisa Watson, director of marketing at Wyboston Lakes Resort, emphasises the resort’s dedication to sustainability and reducing carbon emissions, highlighting their progress in a four-year Green Energy Roadmap.

The Bath Hotel in Lynmouth has welcomed Cavin Mpofu as its new general manager, bringing over 23 years of hotel management experience and a strong background in revenue and HR. Mpofu, having worked globally in locations such as Dubai, South Africa, Austria, and London, joins the hotel following an eight-year refurbishment programme. The restoration includes expanded leisure offerings for meetings, weddings, and events. Owner Carly Glover expresses excitement about Mpofu’s fit with the hotel’s vision post-renovation, emphasising his dedication to excellence.

The Eden Hotel Collection has achieved Green Tourism accreditation at all five of its hotels, with Bovey Castle in Devon receiving a silver award and the others earning bronze. The certification recognises their commitment to sustainable practices, including the introduction of ‘Green Champions’ at each hotel to lead sustainability initiatives. These initiatives range from energy-efficient practices and prioritising local produce to reducing paper usage and engaging with the local community. Group operations director Jayne O’Malley expresses immense pride in the hotels achieving these awards within their first year of increased focus, highlighting the commitment to providing a cleaner, safer, and healthier environment.
