Omni Tempe Hotel at ASU appoints new General Manager, Director of Sales and Marketing

Omni Hotels & Resorts announces the appointment of Todd Gagnon as general manager and Matt Drusch as director of sales and marketing at Omni Tempe Hotel at Arizona State University (ASU). The new hotel is set for a Spring 2023 opening in Tempe’s revitalized downtown district.

“We are thrilled to have two industry veterans join the new hotel’s opening team during this exciting time of growth and change in the Tempe community,” said Dan Piotrowski, senior vice president of operations for Omni Hotels & Resorts. “Omni is a recognized leader in the destination hotel market, constantly redefining and reimagining the traditional city-center hotel as well as luxury resorts. Both Todd and Matt will assist in bringing an entirely new hospitality and meeting experience to the city that will further Tempe’s positioning as a sought-after destination.” 

Todd earned his bachelor’s degree in hospitality and tourism management from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst. He later completed the advanced general manager program at Cornell University.

Matt studied accounting and business management from Carroll University in Waukesha, WI, and later earned his associate’s degree in business marketing from Waukesha County Technical College. Additionally, Matt is a Certified Hospitality Sales Professional (CHSP) under the American Hotel & Lodging Association.

Omni Tempe Hotel at ASU is a $125 million investment and part of a public-private partnership with Arizona State University (ASU) and the City of Tempe. Omni has developed the hotel in collaboration with a team of seasoned hospitality professionals, including architects from C+TC Design Studio, Inc., general contractors at Brasfield & Gorrie and interior designers at Monogram at BBGM. The hotel will feature 330 guest rooms, including 11 suites, four dining outlets, a spacious pool deck, retail vendors, and almost 36,000 square feet of flexible indoor and outdoor meeting spaces with expansive views of the ASU campus and the Tempe cityscape.
