Rothay Garth Hotel acquired for over £1m

UK: Husband and wife Andy Miles and Serena von der Heyde have purchased the Rothay Garth Hotel in Ambleside for £1.175 million. Miles, the owner of Your Place, will take over the property from Simon Clark who has owned the hotel since 2019. Clark refurbished the site and will now retire from the industry. The hotel currently trades as a 15-room bed and breakfast with owners’ accommodation, tennis courts, bowling green, and gardens.

US: Hutton Brickyards has unveiled Edgewood, a restored historic mansion with 12 guest rooms and suites, managed by Salt Hotels. Salt Hotels launched the leisure retreat Hutton Brickyards in 2021. The second phase of its opening includes the addition of Edgewood, an 1870s mansion which has been redeveloped and restored by MWest Holdings, Kristina Dousharm Architecture, and Kevin O’Shea of Salt Hotels.

In the quarter ended 30 September 2022, the average room rate increased to £175.0, up 50.5% vs Q3 2021, and up 30.5% on pre-pandemic Q3 2019 levels. The group claimed its rate-led strategy means it can continue to “better navigate inflationary pressures”.

Hilton sees Q3 net incomes hit $346m
