Curious said its ownership promises to “place Drakes at the forefront” of Brighton’s dynamic hospitality scene, offering guests an “unrivalled experience of the city’s character and culture”.

Jessica Frankopan, co-founder of A Curious Group of Hotels, said: “We are so thrilled that Drakes is becoming part of the Curious family. We have been looking for a seaside hotel since we started a Curious Group of Hotels more than twenty years ago and delighted that we are helping write the next chapter in the history of this wonderful hotel in the heart of such a fantastic city.

“Drakes has all the ingredients that we love: location, style, charm, quirkiness and a fantastic team who love the property.”

Peter Frankopan, co-founder of A Curious Group of Hotels, added: “A Curious Group of Hotels has always focused on small, luxury hotels that can be a home away from home, whether guests are travelling for work, rest or play. Drakes is the perfect sibling for our properties in London, Paris and Amsterdam and will slot straight in. We’re very excited about what the future has in store.”
