Public Hospitality and The Maybe Group’s much-loved Mexican cocktail bar El Primo Sanchez has announced the opening of hidden speakeasy La Prima.

The 10-seater, 20-standing speakeasy is located inside the Paddington venue behind a hidden door only accessible by invitation from staff, or if you’re lucky enough to come across it yourself.

La Prima will continue the El Primo Sanchez theme with tipples celebrating all things tequila, mezcal, and Mexican classics.

Expect a rotating menu of cocktails by the Maybe Sammy team, including a Perfume de Gardenias with Patrón Reposado, peach and citrus cordial, and jasmine soda; plus the Pastel de Planto with Patrón Reposado, banana and cinnamon cordial, salt, and agave.

Food-wise, guests can order favourites from the El Primo Sanchez menu led by Head Chef Alejandro Huerta.

Some of the dishes on offer include pink ling with baja base, guacamole with fermented green tomato, and Blackmore wagyu barbacca with salsa roja de miso.

Guests can expect a candle-lit setting with old-school Mexican music and all the allure of a hidden speakeasy.

La Prima is now open at El Primo Sanchez, Oxford House, 27-33 Oxford Street, Paddington.
