Sydney is gearing up for the launch of Merivale’s latest venue Oti, which will swing open its doors tomorrow.

Executive Chef Mike Eggert is spearheading the concept that revolves around by-the-slice Roman pizzas and Italian-inspired sandwiches.

Oti has taken over the former Lorraine’s Patisserie store on Palings Lane off George Street and is a vision realised for Eggert and Merivale CEO Justin Hemmes.

“When Lorraine [Godsmark] retired, I was given the enviable position coming up with a new concept for the space,” says the chef.

“This concept of a pizza by the slice and Italian sandwich shop is a passion project that Justin and I had been talking about for years, so it’s surreal we’re finally doing it.

“We love the vibe of Jimmy’s Falafel and how people line up down George Street for
the takeaway offering, so we hope to have a similar success with Oti.”

Come 11am tomorrow, patrons will be able to get their hands on schiacciata and pizza piled with prosciutto, salami, mortadella, burrata, olives and capers, and other vegetarian options.

Oti will have a core menu as well as daily specials based on seasonal produce.

To celebrate the launch, pizza slices and sandwiches are half price all day tomorrow.

The venue will open from 11am seven days a week until 8pm Sunday to Wednesday and 2am Thursday to Saturday.
