Mark Condi (centre) at the AGE Networking Luncheon last year.

After resigning from his role in August last year, Condi has revealed he will join Merivale as Group General Manager – Commercial.

Announcing the hire on a LinkedIn post, Condi said the appointment comes after he approached the hospitality group.

“In the search for the next stage of my career, I tried to find a company that excites and inspires me and continually pushes the envelope in food, beverage and experience,” he wrote.

“There was only one company that fits that mould, a company that I have always had a keen interest in and one that we emulated, in part, in several of our offerings. That company is Merivale.”

Merivale Chief Executive Officer, Justin Hemmes has commented on Condi’s appointment.

“We are pleased to welcome Mark Condi to our Senior Management Team at such a pivotal time of growth and interstate expansion for Merivale,” says Hemmes.

In his post, Condi also acknowledged his time at Bankstown Sports and the need for him to take time between roles.

“My world has changed significantly over the past few years, and I am so glad these past three years are done and dusted. I am very proud of what we achieved in my 31 years at the club,” he wrote.

“After I left the club, it took many weeks to finally adjust to not having to get up before the kids. I still read the papers every day and am interested in what is going on in our industry, but it doesn’t quite feel so personal.”

Condi also revealed how he had a break during the the rest of 2022 before beginning the job hunt in the new year.

He also thanked his family for support and and his excitement for the role ahead.

“To say that I am over the moon is an understatement. I look forward to working with the 6,000+ team at Merivale and continuing the growth of their 80+ venues in Australia,” he wrote.

“Exciting times ahead.”

Condi had been at Bankstown Sports for 31 years, and his resignation came as a shock the day after he attended the AGE Networking Luncheon.
