Monaco Willows Pty Ltd, the operator behind Melbournes recently closed Tusk Cafe, and its sole director Francis Placentino are facing legal action after allegedly breaching the Fair Work Act. The Fair Work Commission began legal action against Monaco Willows because the operator allegedly unlawfully deducted money from a worker and underpaid wages and entitlements.

Almost $450,000 recovered for Brisbane food workers and $162,000 in fines issued to businesses

The Fair Work Ombudsman recently conducted investigations into 51 fast food outlets in Brisbane, and the results have been staggering. Inspectors targeted “cheap eats” venues in suburbs including Sunnybank, Sunnybank Hills, Macgregor, and Robertson, which were selected based on a range of intelligence sources. In total, it was found 86 per cent of the businesses had breached workplace laws.
