Association of Scotland’s Self-Caterers appoints new chair

Recently, Winskill assumed the role of co-chair at the Institute of Directors Highlands and Islands Branch

The Association of Scotland’s Self-Caterers (ASSC) has announced the appointment of Clare Winskill as its new chair with immediate effect.

Winskill’s selection comes following the recent AGM held virtually on 9 January 2024.

She brings a wealth of expertise to her new role, stemming from her ownership of Coruisk House Michelin Guide Restaurant and Hotel on Skye, as well as the recently opened self-catering cottage, An Nead – “The Nest”.

With over 12 years of residency in Scotland alongside her partner, Winskill has fostered a “deep-seated passion for Scottish tourism and is dedicated to delivering exceptional guest experiences”.

She serves as a director at the Scottish Tourism Alliance (STA), advocating for regenerative tourism practices that benefit both the economy and local communities. Winskill brings invaluable experience, including insights into the challenges facing rural communities. She is passionate about sustainable and inclusive policies, practices, and partnerships.

Recently, Winskill assumed the role of co-chair at the Institute of Directors Highlands and Islands Branch. Additionally, she is actively pursuing certification as a chartered director to advance her skills and expertise in governance and leadership.

Founded in 1978, the Association of Scotland’s Self-Caterers (ASSC), has more than 1450 Members, operating in excess of 7,000 self-catering properties throughout Scotland, and has close links with other European countries, as founding members of the European Holiday Homes Association (EHHA).

Winskill said: “I am honoured to play a key part in representing Scotland’s self-catering community during this pivotal juncture in the industry. My focus is on supporting our team, members, and partners, ensuring continued growth and development of the ASSC to meet the diverse needs of our membership. I am eager to leverage the benefits of collaboration and draw upon my connections within STA to drive positive change.”
