Angus McPherson will leave Diageo Australia as managing director at the end of September this year.

McPherson first joined the company in 2020, overseeing the development of Diageo’s Reserve and Super Deluxe portfolio.

“It has been an absolute privilege to work at Diageo,” says McPherson. “The team’s
resilience and passion for the business and its brands, particularly as we managed the
challenges of COVID, is something I am incredibly proud of.

There is no word on who will take over the position, with Diageo confirming a new managing director “will be announced shortly”.

Alongside nearly doubling the sales of the Reserve and Super Deluxe portfolio, McPherson ushered in company-wide changes including the full payment of superannuation for employees who take 52 weeks of family leave and held leadership positions with Spirits and Cocktails Australia and DrinksWise.

McPherson is exiting the business to pursue an opportunity outside Diageo, with Diageo Asia Pacific President John O’Keeffe wishing him the best.

“Through his unwavering commitment to create a high-performing organisation, Angus has fostered a team that embodies passion, determination and resilience,” he says.

“I know we are sad to lose Angus, but I am sure our entire Australia business will join me in wishing him every success as he takes on his next adventure later this year.”

Diageo is a leading global alcohol company behind some of the most recognisable brands including Smirnoff, Ketel One, Johnnie Walker, Tanqueray, Baileys, and Don Julio.
