The Museum of Contemporary Art Australia has announced a new hospitality partner that will spearhead its food and beverage programs.

Melbourne-based The Big Group will take over as the museum’s new functions and venue hospitality partner from mid-May.

The group is set to roll out bespoke food and beverage offerings within the Sydney destination including a ground-floor cafe that will open in June as well as a new concept on level four, which will be announced in September.

“MCA Australia is a globally recognised cultural destination in Sydney,” says Bruce Keebaugh, founder of The Big Group.

“We want to establish a place where great art and great food co-exists, and where visitors can engage more deeply with both.”

The museum’s level four cafe (run by The Fresh Collective) will continue to operate as usual until mid-June, which is when the space will close for renovations.

The partnership with The Big Group has also marked the end of a chapter for Culinary Edge, which operated Graze Restaurant until its last service on 4 May.

“We want every visitor to the MCA Australia to have the opportunity to encounter the best Australia can offer, from the art we present to the sense of welcome and inclusivity for all as a truly contemporary cultural experience,” says Suzanne Cotter, director of the MCA.
