Perth and Kinross Council has granted approval for a £30m masterplan at Murrayshall Country Estate. The plan includes expanding the hotel, constructing a spa, outdoor activities area, glamping units, lodges, and potential residential development. Gary Silcock, the general manager, expressed gratitude for the decision, marking a new chapter for the estate. The project, set to begin in 2024, aims to address challenges, creating opportunities for growth and local employment, with an estimated investment of £169m and the potential for 400 job opportunities.

The UK government has reversed its decision to raise the salary threshold for foreign family members’ visa applications. Originally set to increase from £18,600 to £38,700, the new threshold will be £29,000 in the spring, with incremental increases. Those legally working in the UK can apply for a family visa with a £18,600 salary. The decision comes after Home Secretary James Cleverly suggested existing UK workers would not face salary requirement increases when renewing visas.

Kew Green Hotels has acquired Hotel Brooklyn Manchester and Hotel Brooklyn Leicester, planning to transform both into voco hotels. The franchise agreement with IHG Hotels and Resorts aims to showcase each hotel’s unique charm. Hotel Brooklyn Manchester, featuring 189 rooms, and Hotel Brooklyn Leicester, with 191 rooms, will undergo the transformation by mid-2024. Chris Dexter, CEO of Kew Green Hotels, looks forward to collaborating with IHG Hotels and Resorts, aiming to reflect each hotel’s character and charm through the Voco brand, known for its innovative ideas and exceptional services.
