The Belfry Hotel & Resort signs Hoteliers’ Charter

The Charter, which launched in 2020, aims to raise the profile of the hospitality industry and advocate working in hotels as a long-term career choice

The Belfry Hotel and Resort has signed the Hoteliers’ Charter as part of its commitment to recruiting and retaining both up-and-coming and current hospitality talent.

The Charter, which launched in 2020, aims to raise the profile of the hospitality industry and advocate working in hotels as a long-term career choice.

By signing the Charter, The Belfry will support 10 commitments, including agreeing to develop and mentor employees while positioning hotel roles as careers; supporting the ambition to end low pay; providing a “positive and nourishing” workplace environment and culture for colleagues and driving environmentally sustainable businesses with a commitment to reduce, reuse and recycle, and champion the government’s commitment to be carbon neutral by 2050.

Chris Eigelaar, resort director, The Belfry Hotel and Resort, said: “As a major employer in the Midlands, we are acutely aware of the ongoing recruitment and retention challenges faced by our industry.

“These issues were exacerbated during the pandemic and because of post Brexit and to overcome these issues and ensure we have a robust and motivated workforce, it’s crucial that we showcase how the industry can offer a hugely rewarding, varied and long-term career.”

He added: “By signing the Hoteliers’ Charter, we are demonstrating our long-term commitment not only to support and grow our current team, but also to work with the wider industry to the benefit of all.”
